Biog
"A great new talent, a lovely voice"
is how Angie Carter, Director of the Eyam
Jazz Festival in Derbyshire, described Alice
after her debut at the event in 2003. Although
it was her first jazz festival (and she went
down a storm!) Alice's talent is hardly new.
She's been singing ever since she could hold
a tune at two years old and at eight she was
a session singer, performing backing vocals
on a recording by BIll 'Compo' Owen (Last
Of The Summer Wine) in a London studio. Since
then she has sung in various styles, including
pop, country, soul and jazz, in studios as
widely spread as London, Derbyshire, Cheshire
and Surrey. Recent work includes a collaboration
with guitar virtuoso Mick Rogers, of Manfred
Mann's Earth Band.
These days she's working hard on building
a gigging career with her own band and performs
in various different line ups.
The Music
The repertoire sophisticated, romantic and
very classy, is a rich blend of jazz, ballads,
smooth soul and blues. It's mostly standards
from the likes of great jazz singers like
Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday and Peggy
Lee, but influences include Diana Krall, Dusty
Springfield, Sade and Etta James. Alice Harvey
offers elegant swing & jazz music for
any occasion.
Where Alice Performs as a jazz singer
Alice's occasional live appearances, especially
with her dad's band The Back Street Jivers,
were always well received, however it's only
recently she's taken the hint and decided
to devote more time to performing. As Mick
Rogers says, "She's too good to be stuck
in a studio - she should be out there getting
famous".
Bandleader and jazz singer Alice Harvey,
frequently performs all over the UK for private
parties and corporate events but she can also
be seen live on the Gala Casino circuit. These
performances are usually as a duo and are
mainly in Northampton, Birmingham, Wolverhampton
and Bournemouth.
Services
Alice is available as a jazz singer for any
party, fashion show, trade show, wedding,
corporate event, divorce party, or any other
special occasion. Her work takes her around
Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire,
Birmingham and all over the UK. She is based
in Derby so access to anywhere in the UK is
fairly easy. She can provide anything from
a jazz duo (piano and vocals) to a quartet.
The outfit is led by Alice and the duo format
consists of vocals with piano accompaniment.
The duo line up can be augmented to include
bass and drums.
